What will Success Look Like
Allow us a flight of fancy, indulge us a little about what the future could be ....
It's 2029. The fundraising initiative is a successful note now in the history of the club. Our 175 anniversary celebrations were enjoyed by the whole community with family events and outreach programs into the local schools. The outreach programs delivered not just cricket coaching but also units on local history, health and wellbeing. The Community Interest Company (CIC) who now manage the site were able to employ local teachers and coaches to develop this work which is still requested by schools.
The old function rooms have now been transformed. Soon after the fundraising and the cricket club taking control grants were successfully obtained to develop the rooms into business premises. The nursery who have taken over the majority of the space are a far cry from the buildings old existence as function room business but the community music rooms give a nod to the building's previous life. Music teachers hire these spaces for instrumental lessons. The balance of the space has been taken on by a fitness, mobility and well being business.
The community interest company are now 18 months into distributing micro grants to health and wellbeing initiatives in the area. Most pleasing are the subsidised memberships to use the health and well being service provided in the old function rooms. Liverpool City Council are in dialogue with the CIC about match funding the development of leisure facilities on the field over the road from the cricket club and a community consultation about this is due to start next month.
Clearly this is a flight of fancy, but it's not an unattractive vision is it? Were the club to be successful in gaining control of its future there would need to be lots of dialogue with the local community about the site and how its assets are best utilised for the benefit of the residents of L15 and surrounds
